I have feeling that the first post on this blog was just after I’d been to a Preparing for Chartership Course. That was back in 2006 and my portfolio is exactly the same state then as it is now i.e non-existant.
I went to another course on Friday and this time I’m determined to see it through. Various recent events have made me realise that my career isn’t going anywhere, and until I can afford to get a Masters, Chartership is at least a way of proving commitment to the profession.
The course itself was similar to the one I’d been to before. One of the presentations was exactly the same and there was a little bit too much repetition. Half a day would have been enough. Although a welcome addition to the programme was to hear from a couple of people who had recently completed their portfolios.
I was a bit surprised that email lists were still being touted as the best way to get support. Most of mine comes from Twitter and other blogs. It would be good if social media was recognised a bit more.
I came out inspired to get my portfolio together this time. I’ve already emailed CILIP to find out if I can still submit even though I registered so long ago. And I’ve started blogging again. I was going to completely start again, but thinking of a new name proved too difficult so I just changed the theme instead. Will try to keep it going this time.
Welcome back! Good luck with the work.
